Where we are:

Recently, a new addition was added to the harp studio, a sweet standard poodle puppy named Percival, or simply, “Percy.”

From his first week at home, Percy has loved the harp. Whenever it is being played he has to be allowed in the room.

Percy takes his job as a harp studio poodle very seriously. He greets all the students, plays games if there is time, and then curls up into a ball between the student and the front door during the lesson.  When it’s time to go, he gets up to say “Goodbye.”

It is the highlight of his day!

Long Island Harp Studio is located in the music room of a beautifully restored Queen Anne Victorian home in the Village of Northport, New York.

While lessons are taking place, parents can relax or use their computer devices in the front parlor which has pocket doors to the music room. Pocket doors can be closed for privacy between the rooms (but parents can still hear the entire lesson.) They can also be left partially open or open completely for an impromptu performance or demonstration.

The studio has one pedal harps and one troubadour harp. Also a Steinway upright piano is available for accompaniment and music theory.

For young students, a parent may be asked to participate in part of the lesson.

In good weather, harp lessons may take place on the wrap around porch.

“As soon as I turn on the lights in the studio, Percy waits expectantly by the front door.  He knows that one of his beloved harp students will be arriving soon!”
